Junior High Mathematics Competition

Every year students in junior high schools throughout the Pearl River Community College district participate in a state mathematics competition sponsored by the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). The top two students from each school, in both the seventh and eighth grades, participate in the district level competition at Pearl River Community College.

This year the district level competition was held at Pearl River Community College, Poplarville, MS on Wednesday, March 2. Seventh and eighth grade students from ten junior high schools in the district participated in the contest. The Department of Science, Mathematics and Business provided refreshments before the contest and a luncheon after the contest for the participants and their sponsors. After the luncheon Ms. Judy Roane, chair of the department, presented each participant with a certificate of attendance. Each first and second place winner was presented with a plaque. The four winners will now advance to the state level competition which will be held at East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi.
